Behind the Brush
Artist Introduction
Behind the Brush is a look into the work and world behind my paintings. I’m an Alberta artist drawn to moody palettes, layered textures, and the emotion that lives in nature. My work is inspired by the places that feel grounding — forests, florals, soft light, and quiet colour shifts — and by the moments in life that linger long after they pass.

Painting began as a simple practice and slowly became the way I process the world. Over time, those early experiments turned into a body of work shaped by mood, movement, and memory. I’ve always been pulled toward deeper tones, natural textures, and scenes that feel familiar but slightly out of reach. Each piece is created slowly, layer by layer, until it holds the atmosphere I’m looking for, something calm, expressive, and genuine.

Why I Paint
I paint because it gives shape to thoughts and feelings I can’t put into words. It’s a quiet process that allows me to slow down, pay attention, and create something meaningful from the colours and moments that stay with me. Every canvas becomes a place to pour intention, emotion, and the beauty of nature in its softer, moodier forms.

My family plays an important role in who I am and how I create. As a mom of four and now a grandmother, my studio is often filled with small reminders of the people I love; a quick visit from a teenager, a quiet morning with my granddaughter nearby, or a conversation with my husband while I paint. Those connections, even in subtle ways, weave themselves into my work and keep me grounded in the things that matter most.

Art Style & Philosophy
My style blends moody colours, layered textures, and natural forms. I’m drawn to charcoal tones, deep teals, dark florals, and misty landscapes; colours that hold depth and quiet intensity. I aim to create artwork that feels grounded and immersive, offering a sense of calm and emotional space to the viewer.
Every piece is intentional, built with care, and meant to stand as a meaningful part of someone’s home.
